UFC 284 (on February 11, 2023) is a pay per view card featuring a matchup between two of the best pound for pound fighters in the world in Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev. Volk is looking to become the 5th double weight class champion in UFC history following in the footsteps of Henry Cejudo, Conor McGregor, Amanda Nunes and Daniel Cormier. Makhachev will look to employ his smothering Dagestani wrestling on the Aussie as he defends his lightweight title. In the co-main event, Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett battle for the interim featherweight title.
Update: In the thrilling main event, Islam Makhachev used his sensational grappling to stifle a game Volkanovski over 5 hard fought rounds. In the co-main event, Yair Rodriguez took out Josh Emmett with a triangle to claim the interim featherweight title. Bonuses went to Volk and Makhachev for Fight of the Night and Jack Della Maddalena and Yair for Performance of the Night.
