UFC 273 (on April 9th, 2022) features 2 highly anticipated title fights. Alexander Volkanovski defends his featherweight title against the “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. Volkanovski still remains undefeated in the UFC and is a massive 4:1 favorite against Zombie. In the other title fight, Petr Yan looks to recapture his Bantamweight title from Aljamain Sterling. In their first fight, Sterling took an illegal knee while on the ground to win the title by DQ. Yan still feels his is the true champion and will look to prove that on Saturday night. Also returning on this card is the highly touted, undefeated Khamzat Chimaev. Khamzat has steamrolled every opponent he has faced in the UFC included ranked welterweight Jingliang Li in his last bout. Borz will have the toughtest test of his career as he takes on former title challenger and 3x BJJ world champion Gilbert Burns.
Odds: Volk is a 4 to 1 favorite against Korean Zombie at BetUS
Update: Volkanovski defended his title by battering Chan Sung Jung over 4 rounds en route to a referee stoppage. Sterling eeked out a controversial split decision over Petr Yan. The champion was able to control Yan on the ground in rounds 2 and 3 but the striking in Rounds 1, 4, and 5 appeared to give Yan the edge. Two out of 3 judges ultimately believed Sterling did enough to retain his crown. In a thrilling 3-round fight of the year contender, Khamzat Chimaev went to war with Gilbert Burns. Burns proved that he was not going to be a bulldozed like many expected. He knocked down Chimaev several times but Chimaevs pressure was too much in the end and he took a unanimous decision. Bonuses went to Chimaev/Burns, Volk and Aleksey Oleinik. The new crypto bonuses went to Chimaev, Volk and Yan on fan voting.
